The D.F. & E.W.A. (Dorothea Fleiss & East West Artists) project crystallized between 1997 and 2000 as a transnational private initiative in the field of contemporary visual arts, which led to the foundation of the Dorothea Fleiss & East West Artists International Association in Stuttgart, Germany, where I live. Its major artistic and sociocultural objective consists in:
- the actual achievement of an international artistic environment by virtue of cooperation through specific means and implements. That is, through:
- symposiums;
- summer academies (thought to be held mainly in the castle of Carei, Romania);
- yearly grants for 2 or 3 young Romanian artists;
- colonies and workshops;
- international contemporary art exhibitions;
- art critique symposiums;
- publishing art catalogues;
- gathering universal contemporary art collections, either public (such as the Contemporary Art Museum "D.F.&E.W.A." in Heze, Shandong Province, China, 2002), or private.
Since its establishment, the Association's projects have been contributed to by over 610 artists, art critics and historians, managers, art gallery owners, and specialists in the cultural-artistic and organizational field, coming from 36 countries of Europe, the East, Africa, Asia, America.
Along its 10 years of existence, thanks to all the artists and experts whose skills it involved towards completing its projects, the Association has acquired a comprehensive and dynamic transnational profile confirmed by the works and activities of artists from Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, France, Romania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Moldova, Turkey, Serbia, the United States of America, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Argentina, Inner Mongolia, India, Liban etc.
